by I bought a new yamaha xt600 tacho cable and removed the inner wire , then measured the distance i needed and cut it somewhere the cable would run as straight as possible , Mine was by the side area of the radiator. I got some heat shrink tubing and a 2 inch piece of alloy tubing ,peel back the outer plastic, slide on the heat shrink tubing , slide both ends into the alloy
tubing and slightly crimp , then check the inner cable still slides in ok and shrink the tubeing for water tightness, as for the inner cable , i just bought a speedo cable repair kit , measured it up and cut and crimped a new square end on , simple
