need help with abandoned bike - Central Wisconsin

Postby MattyP » Mon Aug 02, 2010 10:10 am

Fellow MZ riding Wisconsonians... My Skorp broke down outside of Mayville, Wi (intersection of County Y and County Z). A sweetheart of a family is letting me leave the bike in the driveway for a little bit until I can get out there to rescue her. Problem is the bike is my only vehicle (outside of my pedal bikes) and could use the help of a friendly person with cycle hauling capabilities to bring the bike back to Madison so I can get her serviced.

I could have my shop go out and get it but they'll be charging me an arm and a leg - given that I only own 2 of each I'd like to hold on to them. That said, I am happy to compensate said saintly person with money, beer etc. If you can, or know someone who can, lend me a hand I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Matt

i don't have a truck nor am i anywhere near to assist, but for whats it worth,

see if your insurance policy offers road side assistance. when i started riding i signed up for progressive at my friends insistence and added 10$ a year for RSA which includes towing. the policy premium paid for itself in one tow!

there might be a limit on how far it will get you, but maybe it will be enough to make the difference more affordable.

good luck

Matt,
I was going to recommend Enterprise Rental for a pick-up truck, but that would be over $100 in Madison, WI.
I can rent one here in Nashville for about 60 bucks and "MILEAGE IS UNLIMITED WHEN VEHICLE REMAINS WITHIN THE BORDERNIG STATES"
Used that several times when I needed to move something that won't fit in the van.
Good luck and I hope you find someone to help.

thanks all,

through the magic of helpful/friendly Madisonians a buddy and I got our hands on a pickup for the cost of gas and a 6 pack. We went up and poked around, changed a fuse which promptly burned out again - so we threw her in the back of the truck and came home.

I've been in communications with Dave T who has been very gracious in sending lots of materials my way. Now that she's (the skorp) back at home I'll have time to putz around and see if I can trouble shoot the issue - between the help I've already gotten on this forum, the resources here on on the skorpion.net site and some savvy folks I know here I'm sure it'll get worked out.
