From ETZ to Mastiff

Postby collajove » Wed Jan 19, 2005 5:24 pm

Hi Folks! I just came on board. Fifteen years ago I bought a new ETZ 250. We parted company when I took off for Canada. Last spring I was looking for a new bike. My first since the 250. I've always had a soft spot for MZ. I bought a new Mastiff. Fifteen years ago I rode the 250 down to Spain. Figured I'd do the same trip on the Mastiff. What a joy to be on the road again!! What a bike. Took the Pyrenees, took everything in it's stride. My only complaint........ You bet, the saddle. First thing I did when I got back, I had a custom saddle made. Now I can sit there all day in comfort. Looks great too. Happy riding !

soft spot

Postby DAVID THOMPSON » Wed Jan 19, 2005 9:47 pm

glad you like the dog :-D the mastif that is

i sold a bmw r90s in 1998 and rode some other BMW/2's i had
till 2002 then went looking for something
I wound up buying a MZ RT125 from a dealer in a town called Northeast PA
about 20 miles from Erie pa
it was so much fun a year later i bought a used 95 saxon tour
so now the bmw's are seting in the shop and the mz's are what i have been riding
to sum it up no i will not trade my rt125 for a bmw

the MZ factory got the RT125 spot on except for the usa market
it needs a motor that will let it run out of steam at 80mph not 70mph
so you can keep up on the interstates
ar dave :smt023
ps i do 500 mile weekend trips on the RT125 the saxon tour is a harder
ride on one's back end the seat is a pain

Mastiff Saddle

Hi Phlat 65! Tried to send pic but it's too big at 1.09 mb. I'll take some more shots using less pixels! Don't know if this will work. Watch this space. Thanks for the welcome. Thanks too to Dave . I was in Philly a couple of times many moons ago. Is that close to you? I hear West Virginie is great biking country. That MZ 125 must be some bike to do weekend ,500 mile trips. I think with my bulk I need the Mastiff's torque! We haven't seen the sun lately. Still I have 3 free days this weekend so I'll be off to the mountains come rain or come shine. I feel the same way about MZ over BMW. And anyway the BMW prices are way over the top, this side of the Atlantic. Plus I'm getting 70 mpg out of the Mastiff. Gas prices are crazy here too.See you later guys! Good MZ-ing!

Thanks Scheffi. Saw your note about the annual "shindig" at the factory in Zschopau. I've noted the dates on my calendar. Maybe I'll see you there!
