THINKING MAYBE A TRAVELLER

Postby timc490310 » Thu Oct 21, 2021 6:05 pm

I've been on here before, my uncle has a scorpion, yellow. Nice bike but I can't take the pressure on the wrists. I sold my VFR800, a real blast to ride, and a BMWF800S. 2 hours on the VFR and I was hurting. One hour on the BMW and I was done. My ST1300, no problems. Went to Lake Norman to see a sick and and turned around after my 2 hour visit and headed home. 917 miles total in one day. But my question is how are the ergonomics on the Traveller? I also had a NT700V, probably should have kept that but oh well. Thanks for any input. Tim

earls fork does not beat you like a telescope fork

i find the traveller to be a harsh ride

best long haul is 1970's r75/5/6 or r60

I really like the BMW's, the R1100 and r1150's but the tranny and shafts can be so expensive. I think you, David answered my questions before when I started to think about a Traveller before. My uncle who has the Scorpion had I beleive a BMW 75 and 100. The 100 was Porsche red , beautiful bike.

If you accept that a Traveller is a "smaller" motorcycle with a non too smooth single cylinder engine; I have happily ridden mine from Central England to Dijon in France with my camping gear. The longest leg of the journey is 350 miles from Le Havre to Dijon on non motorways/freeways. Great fun on the back roads, no aches or pains. Search for a series of posts "You can't tour on a single cylinder" by a guy who toured round Europe on a traveller for many years. You need to look for the "older stuff that nobody reads" posts as he finally sold the Traveller in 2017. If you want something different - go for a Traveller!
