Not posted for a while ....

Hi all, it is good to see that the forum is still going strong even if the factory isnt !! I recognise some old members and it is good to see a steady flow of newbies coming on line as well.

My ankle is still pretty knackered from my accident last year so I have been unable to ride my bike other than the odd burble up and down the road, struggling to change gear and also to support the bike at a standstill especially if it starts to go over. To be honest I also have a nagging feeling that if I go out for a proper ride some tin box driver will knock me off again so I definately have a 'head issue' to overcome as well ! I dont feel as immortal as I did when I was younger !

Sadly the bike is under a tarp and even though I start it regularly and try to keep it clean the lack of use is defiantely taking its toll. Hopefully I will give be able to give it a go next spring.

I have just had another operation to try and give me better mobility / funtionalaity in the ankle but it is too early to say whether it has been succesful or not.

Recent pre-latest op xray attached. It is amazing just how much a broken ankle can foooook up your life .........and I consider myself lucky that all I got was a broken ankle and a few bruises.

Actually, I'm a new member, having just bought an '03 Baghira SM a couple weeks ago. I have yet to really ride it, but it's got to be way nicer than my beat up '90 DR650S. If it were not for this site, I likely would have stayed away from the MZ. So, while the factory issues are concerning, I think it's still not too much of a risk given the shared mechanicals availability. Hope people keep posting good info to help keep these nice bikes going.

UK has fewer issues in getting parts than us in the USA, so count yourself lucky (aside from your bum ankle!)

still in recovery mode from my knock off last year (dec 4 2007) and doing much better
still have not got the baby fixed even though it did not suffer much
just a lack of time and a sweet running rt125 to ride to ride
as the English say i need to get my arse in the basement and do some work over the holidays

your bike will need a good tune up all that metal in your leg will slow it down with toooo much weight to carry

i lost my spleen but no broken bones

talking to the fellow the other day that was following me when i wrecked
i do not remember it he said i folded my arms across my chest and laid back on the seat and pulled my legs
up i was in a ball laying on my back on the seat when the boy hit me... is what the fellow said
so i guess instinct saved the day
