Hi All

I have just bought a 1996 MZ Skorpion Sport in Auckland, New Zealand and am very glad to have found this site. I have downloaded a manual but have no dealer support. I may need some advise later but it is all going very well at the moment.

The bike is quite a contrast from my last bike (TDR250) with such a relaxed feel there is no need to speed. I have owned several MZ 250 2 strokes in the past but the Skorpion is the best MZ and possibly the best bike I have owned.

Cheers for now.

Welcome to the site. I am in Brisbane,Australia, and know how it is regarding parts availablity. Have 2000 Skorpion Tour with close to 110,000klm on it and never had any major troubles, plenty of alternative parts available if you do a bit of research. Hope to pick up a 2002 Sport in a couple of weeks to keep for major parts that are hard to find. Best of luck with yours and treat it well and it will return in kind. Russell.

I didn't realise there were any etz's in NZ. I used to own a supa 5 and wanted an etz when they came out as they cured the poor brakes, oil in the fuel and 6v electrics. MZ riders are rare in NZ keep in touch.

hi mike, i think maybe that i might have the only etz in new zealand( unless anyone knows better). people do come up to me at the petrol station and ask what kind of bike is it and when i say mz they looked stumped, even some motorcycle mechanics have never heard of mz so i guess they must be pretty rare over here. i have had no luck trying to get spares in nz so have to get them from the uk. i am from the uk originally and always remember seeing mz's on the road over there, i always found them very different looking from the average bike with the big cylinder and old fashion looks but i did like them... i have had a few bikes in my time - gilera 50- yamaha dt 125- bsa bantam 175-honda slr 650-honda cr 125- kawasaki er 500 and now a kawasaki zzr 250 and the 1988 etz 250.
i would love to know how many mz's are in new zealand? all the best... mark...
