MZ Moto2 Replica in the works?

Postby guitarzan » Tue Mar 15, 2011 9:17 pm

I read on the MZ factory website that there are plans for a street bike based on the Moto2 racer. Anyone have any details on this? MZ has slowly added to their product line, so hopefully street bikes will return soon! We've been waiting for a while... :smt006

Well they have to sell something in the meantime...
Apparently the Moto2 racer that Anth West is riding is the MZ trellis frame that could be the basis for an eventual road bike.
Max Neukirchner is riding a Moto2 racer with an aluminum box frame from FTR.

Here's the quote from Martin Wimmer last March, posted on MotoGP.com:

"Our new chassis will also be the base of the street replica of our Moto2 prototype. But there are things in the development process of a fully roadworthy bike that you just can't speed up", said MZ CEO Martin Wimmer. "Therefore, we had to find an interim solution that would enable our riders to compete on a high level in the first race."

Hope it does materialize before too long, but not holding my breath!

Seems both Max and Anthony are on FTRs now...Max is doing better.
If they would start near the front they could be formidable as shown by how many they pass during the race!
Also they seem to run very well in the practice sessions...but Bradl is SOOOOOO fast

Anth does very well in the wet. He and Max did great in Assen, finishing 4th and 10th. If they could qualify higher up, they would be quite competitive!
It was great to see TV coverage of one our MZ racers for a change. Well deserved in very tricky conditions.
