resurrection

Postby beckyman » Thu Apr 14, 2011 2:40 pm

Easter seems a most suitable time to essay the task of digging to the back of my garage where I hope to disinter the remains of the MZ TS 150 Sport which I bought in October 1984. It had annoyed me by having a puncture shortly after purchase, so it has mouldered there ever since. It was then ten years old. I remember that it used to jump out of top gear when on the over-run. This did not endear it to me either so it was abandoned and a Mark III LE Velocette took its place in my affections. I shall shortly be riding my Mark II LE for the first time since 1976 when that also was hidden away. The restored engine was fired up for the first time this afternoon.

The reason for this turn of events is twofold. Firstly, I am now about to hit the youthful age of seventy six and reckon that it must be now or never. Secondly, I have made a new friendship of a splendid mechanic who is chivvying me to let him come and do his thing in my garage. I enjoy doing this in company.

Have just found this site to my surprise, I thought that MZs were things to be seen down a very long nose and were the butt of cynical jibes. Now I find that there are one or two genuine enthusiasts for them . I wonder what I've been missing all these years! Perhaps someone will enlighten me. Meanwhile what do I do about the jumping out of gear?

Regards to all from new old boy - Beckyman.

Hi, Beckyman,
I've only just joined the forum myself as I'm off in the morning to pickup a ts150 Project. From the picturers its not pretty but its all there, if it runs it will be a bonus. Hope your ts makes it back to the road. Congrats on keeping the LE going they deserve a place in history.
