IFA Day 20th May 2012

Postby radiograf » Sun May 20, 2012 12:48 pm

Just thought I'd share some photo's from todays IFA Day at the Wythall Transport Museum. The Picture of Emzie in front of the AA box was prophetic, as she decided to block her carb on the way home. Bit of fiddling later, and of we went again (can't do that on my Kawasaki!) Note to self, must fit fuel filter. As there is a limit on 3, I've put some more in the DDR era gallery.

Back in the dawn of time, before mobile (cell) phones, you found these boxes dotted around the UK, labeled either AA, or RAC. They where a members only telephone box, so that you could call for help when you broke down. Each member of the AA or RAC was issued with a key to access these boxes. Just occasionally you would end up in Narnia.
AA = Automobile Association
RAC = Royal Automobile Club

Really good turn out you got. Much better than at the Scottish IFA Day last month where there were only 4 IFA era vehicles - 2 Trabants and 2 MZs. There were also 2 Skorpions and an MZ 500 Tour (which I forgot to mention on my blog: http://youcanttouronasingle.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/scottish-ifa-day.html
