Postby jack » Sun Apr 14, 2013 4:18 pm

hello my name is jack, 18. no knowlege of motorcycle mechanics. however i bought a 1993 saxon sportstar 125 kickstart only, but unfortunately it doesnt want to start even withh the choke on and ignition switch on, fuel tap on. its got enoguh petrol in it and a new battery. on the ride home from the sale i left the choke on. will this have damaged any mechanics at all. i try bump starting it and the electrics cut out all together. any suggestions on possible problems would be very much appreciated thanks.

check for fuses and test the battery if it set this winter it may be bad
a choke left on may have it badly flooded

Jack, have a look on the right side of the handle bar and check if the twistgrip unit has a switch on it. If it has try flipping it and then give starting another go. Most MZ don't have a kill switch (pre 1989), but some of the later ones do (post german unification).
To start a 250 I've always used the following system:
Fuel on, ignition off, choke on.
Kick engine over twice.
Choke off, ignition on.
Kick engine over.
Should start, first or second kick.
