Thanks for all tips and tricks...and here comes the end of this story and maybe something to learn! After spending several evenings with this problem the season here in Norway was over. The snow start falling and I dumped my Mastiff in a freezing cold garage (but I removed my new battery first!) When spring came in April, the motivation was better...just throw in the battery and try! Fabulous, after a winter with sometimes -20 C and a failing engine it started up on it's old petrol after less than 5 seconds and most amazing of all - it seemed to work perfect. Too good to be true? Yes, after some hours test drive it was back in old non-working-well condition. I left it to the MuZ mech'specialist at Euro-Speed in Karlstad, Sweden. They called after some days and told me that it worked perfect. They had done ..nothing! I asked them to spend some hours on riding and a week later they called me back. They got the answer! Dirt in the carburetor! I could not belive it! They cleaned the tank and the carburetor and removed a small "filter" in the carburetor! I am not sure what they ment by "a small filter" but they had experienced that this could cause problems. However, I have made up my own analyse of this. Please, tell me if I am totally off the road!
It was a fact that the battery was crap when I first stopped. This problem may caused the engine to work bad and this probably caused some shit in the carb' to shake off and got stucked somewhere in the carb'. This shit hanged on as long I was running the bike frequently. During the winter this shit was partly disolved by the petrol. After some hours testdrive (spring), the shit was "sucked back to it's former position". After 8000 km this year I am fairly sure that the problem is solved. The engine still got a small hickup around 2500 rpm, probably caused by the "same shit" but I just put it back in the garage and maybe I clean it next year.....
Merry Christmas and a Happy new 2008!
Best regards
Fredrik
