Black Panther - Rough running at low speed?

Postby hulagun » Wed Sep 29, 2004 2:38 am

Love my new used Baghira, it's stock (for now), with
7k miles, and appears to be well maintained. But it
'seems' like it runs a little rough at low speeds in
first gear or second. Smooths out fine when the
secondary carb kicks in at higher RPM.

It feels/sounds like a stutter, very slight but it bugs me. I
didn't notice it on the test ride or the first day I
owned it. But today I wore earplugs (for wind noise)
and it seemed like then I could feel the stutter
better, as well as hear it.

I am hoping someone else has had more experience with
the 660 motor and can comment on how smooth these
bikes are from idle up into the higher RPMs. And if I
am not imagining things, any suggestions or mods to improve low speed running are welcome.

like almost all modern bikes, the carbs are set up really lean for emission purposes. if you can live with it until you get an exhaust can, because you can re-jet then, or raise the needle 1 clip in the primary carb (lower clip) and back off the air screw .5 turn.

This symptom is often experienced whan the spark plug needs replacing. Service the bike and see if it makes any difference.
