Exhausting troubles...

Postby Trogolodyte » Thu Sep 29, 2011 11:02 am

Whilst fetteling Thumper (my 500 country) I have discoverd that the rear exhaust section (from under the carb to the silencer) is very rotten and has lots of holes and patches across even older holes....
I know that sebring do not make replacments and finding a good 2nd hand one is a bit like finding chickens teeth or rocking horse poo. So its time to find an exhaust fabricator who can make up a section of stainless steel to go from under the carb to just behind the rear left shock absorber, where I intend to mount either an aftermarket endcan from somthing like a ccm or a ktm big single Or find a secondhand alloy trials silencer from somthing like a Bsa B40, my dad used to have a B40t and I used to think it both looked nice and sounded nice too. If i do that I will Keep the old pipe with a view to getting somthing simmilar made up at a later date...

Been on the Mtriders club page and there is a very good way of doing what i mentioned above, but using a silencer from a kawasaki GPZ500...

My plan is to use one of these...

to go From under the carb to just above the pillion footrest....then may be a pair of these 30' ones,

cut to size and pressed into a flat section to run behind the rear left shock absorber, and the other cut and modded to fit to a universal silencer, I have a Bsa B40t alloy trials silencer that i want to use but one of these should work too
