ok now i am stuck, old coil (what was on thumper (500 country) when i got her...)
HT lead goes to sparky plug
spade connector is the trigger, the wire connected to it is pink & the other wire (black)
is connected to the mounting bar (thats the earth, i think)
it worked but cut out when it got hot, and after 20 mins she fires up but only runs for a short time (ten mins and cuts out again)
when left over night she will run fine again
Now I have a replacement coil now that is slightly bigger than the old one but has simmilar performance, it has the HT lead that goes to sparkyplug....
plus two connectors, one is connected to the mounting bar (am assuming it has the same purpose as the black wire/earth on the old one)
and a trigger that goes straight to the three point connector & into the loom, if all things are the same as the old coil it should work the same, well it dont...
should i... a, buy a new coil that i know will work for lots more money (about £80)
b, get a compleatly new cdi & coil from rex's speed shop (for twice as much money £160) and start again...?

Coils,
Have found a place on ebay (germany) that can supply NEW sr500 coils. they are the same part (Nippon denso coil), but they have a different connector instead of the three way connector they have a two point one... so some modification will be required.
