Carb rubbers deterioration

I've got a 500R and for the second time in 12 months I'm going to have to replace the rubber mounting tubes on both side of the carburettor due to cracking. Is anybody else having a similar problem? The airbox side is much more affected than the engine side. Can anybody think why this is happening? I've attached a photo of the airbox side.
