Skorpion Sport brake upgrade.

After finally replacing the fork seals on my 1995 Skorpion Sport, it was time to upgrade the brake system. Even after cleaning all the fork oil off the front brake disc, and replacing the brake pads, the original equipment Grimeca brake master cylinder and caliper simply were not up to the task of stopping the bike even in normal street traffic.
I bought a Brembo P4 30/34 caliper from an Italian online company (CarpeMoto) and a PS13 master cylinder (from OPPRacing) only to find that the master cylinder did not fit with the stock handlebars. There is interference between the stub for the banjo fitting, and the aluminum boss for the clip-on on the right hand side. Well, I never liked those handlebars anyway!
After some online research, I bought a set of Woodcraft 41 mm clip on’s that they market for the 2015 to 2018 model year Yamaha R3 models. They fit perfectly, and actually raise the handlebars about an inch and a half, which is helpful for me because I have relatively short arms with a 32 inch inseam. Makes the riding position more comfortable for me around town. Turns out there was one more modification I needed to make, because even with the thinner aluminum boss on the wood craft clip on, there was still interference with the master cylinder stub. I had to add a second far side handlebar clamp inside the master cylinder to gain the extra clearance I needed.
After that it was just a question of drilling holes for the handle bar switchgear, and adjusting and lining everything up and bleeding the brakes. The stopping of the motorcycle is transformed; much more like my single desk Ducati 750 SS from back in 1992, and much safer in modern stop and go traffic!
