MZ/MuZ Riders

Hello all. I am having some problems with my new Baghira Enduro. I got it a few weeks ago, only 78 km on the speedo. I read the manual and did what it said concerning the battery. I placed battery acid in it, then charged it off the bike for approx 3 hours. Everything was going well, it wouldn't crank a few times, so I charged it some more. I went on a trip to Boston and left the bike in the garage for 4 days. I cranked it this morning without any problems. Went street riding for about an hour or so. Then, it wouldn't start later in the day. I don't get it. Shouldn't the battery charge when I ride the bike? Why the heck is a new battery dieing so quickly? I am almost to the point of buying a new battery, even though this one is under 2 weeks old. Anyone have any advice? Did I do something worng? I know my neighbor has a Honda crotch rocket and he goes months without riding. He jump starts it and rides for a little and his battery is fully charged. What's wrong with mine? I am getting tired of pushing this bike home. What should I do?????

check fuses under seat, if you have a multi meter, check voltage with running, should be over 13.2 @ 2500 rpm.... look for the harness coming from the stator/magneto housing and make sure the connector is plugged in all the way, if it is, disconnect it and make sure none of the pins are bent or burned.... that will get you started.

You didn't do nuthin' wrong, the stock batteries in Baghiras are junk. The dealer I bought mine from talked me into replacing it with a Yuasa before I picked it up.Shouldn't be that way, but watcha gonna do.....?

I still have the stock battery in my 2001.. starts every time, even after sitting for a couple weeks

same here...

...after I drained the extra quart of oil outta the sump (it was over-filled when i got it and would *not* start hot).

my stock battery died within an hour of delivery, but thats because its breather tube was pinched to the frame during assembly.
its identical equivalent was too weak for the bike though,
the current YAUSA battery i have is 2 more in capacity and twice the crank amps.
no problems so far.

My stock battery lasted for 6 months then died without warning. If you still have the standard battery junk it before it lets you down

I'd still make sure the charging system was good before I threw another battery at it and still had the same problem

Thanks for all the advice. As it turns out, the yellow 20 fuse is blown. I will get on later today. I unplugged everything and plugged it back in again as well. I am fairly certain that is the problem. The fuse, who knew? Thanks again.

it probably got jumped backwards, that blows the fuse for sure...

aaaaah take that dam fuse out..... hard wire it..... no more fuse issues I'm definately hardwiring that dam kick stand/switch......I hate it when that thing bounces when I jump off curbs etc......

fuses are good man!! just don't ask me to help ypuu re=wire your bike when the harness catches on fire

...and I cannot remember his name, but the owner is a member of another message-board that i frequent, and you'll hafta email to ask for the circuit-breakers... I don't see them listed anywhere on the website. Shipping was fast, and it's a small business owned by an enthusiast of the sport - not some corporation with a 1-888 "tech-line" that connects to a boiler-room with teleprompters in India... shipping was fast, and they were not tremendously expensive (about $10 ea IIRC).

...and I know I'm gonna sound like a broken-record if I keep saying it... but my baghira was over-filled with oil straight from the dealer and it blew fuses and refused to start when hot `til I drained the extra oil out...

My Oil Level was a good inch above the fill line and I haven't had any problems so far, I'm no tech but I'm not sure If I can relate the oil level with hard starting when hot......one thing I learned with my bike is I never touch the throttle when cold or hot.....there has to be something funky there with the design.... might be a question to ask the German's......I'm curious now......when you lower the oil level and do nothing else and the problem goes away that to me is meaningful..........hmmmmmm ????
