front mudguard

just bought a front mudguard off a yamaha xtx 600x supermoto. The mudguard has only the front upper section, as the xt660x sepermoto has a rear section fitted low to the wheel. This is what i want, as the big standard mudguard does not protect the engine from winter crap.
Anyone got any ideas how to mount the rear lower section ?
I was thinking along the lines of the Mz mastiff with a fork brace. Has anyone else done a mod like this?
I have the old mudguard off my trx850 yamaha black with a slight crack to the front. Was thinking of cutting this down, and using it for the rear lower section. (maybe temporarily for the winter).
The way i look at it is . The standard mudguard has the radius of the off road tyres i.e 21 inch far to big for road use.
ideas please.
