instalation of crash bobbins

I have installed skate wheels to the axle ends tohelp prevent crash damage, and they work.

the best method is to remove the axles and have a machine shop center drill them on a lathe for an 8*1.00 bolt.

I made some spacers out of steel bushing material to fit in the bearing hole, put a washer on each side if the bushing, and bolted them in place.

I also removed the passenger pegs, and mounted some delron sliders in their place.

I crashed on asphalt @50mph, and all that happeden was my bar riser bent, the hand guard got rashed, and it rashed 1 of the skate wheels.
there was no damage to any body panel, and both of my pipes were untoched!

Ditto on the skate wheels...they saved my bike in the last crash on asphault I had too!

The idea of the sliders in the pasenger peg holes is great! (Me copy!) They look like, in a pinch, they'd double as passenger pegs too..maybe a strip of rubber glued to the tops would make for a semi-secure footing vs. the bare plastic surface. Cool!

sure! good quality wheels are more than that, but the material is also better....

Crash 'em and replace 'em. Seems to me the cheaper the better as long as they aren't soft. Hard is better than soft (to keep bike from grabbing and flipping) but not so hard the bike slides clear across 4 lanes and under a bus or off a cliff. :-)

If that's what you mean by better, then, yeah. ;-)

yes, the cheap wheels do grip a bit better.
