"Hello" post from RT owner in Seattle

Postby SeattlePaul » Fri Jan 27, 2006 3:15 am

Hi,

I am the happy owner of a yellow 2002 RT 125. I have never even seen another one on the streets, only pictures. Seeing groups of them in the album is a shock! Germans ride these things around in packs.

I have some questions. I notice people are reporting both higher speeds and better mileage than I get, I top out at an indicated, probably optimistic, 60 MPH. Up a slight grade, it slows to 45. I get maybe 70 MPG. Dealer says this is normal. Are you guys lyin'?

Well, the dealer in Seattle is a Honda/Yamaha dealer that picked up the MZ dealership from Moto International, they might not know the bikes that well. It has about 1800 miles on it; I guess they loosen up with use?

I've been on one tour on it, mostly it's used for short runs around town. Like tomorrow, I have an errand before work so I will brave the crappy weather and take the bike to save time. I have no car and ride the bus and my bicycle. I like to keep my ecological footprint small, which is why I went with a 125cc.

I have seen pictures of factory hard luggage, but my dealer knows nothing about them. Is anyone importing these to North America? I don't want to keep wearing a backpack, they hurt my shoulders. I'd like something waterproof that locks. I don't think Givi makes mountings for these. Any other ideas? What do other people do?

If you live in Western Washington State, let me know OK? Maybe we can go riding.

welcome. I think I saw you in Bellevue couple months ago?

as far as luggage, find a trunk that you like, and have a mount made, or I will help you fab one up. I don't mind spending the day in the shop working on an MZ.... you have to buy the beer though :-D
