I've just gotten my SX back from the local dealer after 18 months of being worked on. Lets not go there! It kept blowing mains fuses.
Now its back and it wont start, changed the plug and added new fuel.
Any ideas?

Will it try to turn over? If not, it's electrical (battery). If so, it's fuel.
If it's fuel, you're either not getting spark, or your pilot is clogged. Given that it has been sitting for so long and without the floatbowl drained, I think it's the latter. Also a shot in the dark in assuming that the mechanic didn't monkey with the idle screws.
Assuming it is fuel, You can do one of two things... the first is to add fuel-line cleaner. The fuel system cleaner can be found in the lawnmower section of any hardware store. Apparently modern unleaded fuels are susceptible to a form of organism that can thrive in the gas, and make their way to the narrow openings of the jets where they settle and grow. Fuel system cleaners "harshen-up" the gas, killing off this form of growth.
Failing that, you will then have to dismantle your carb and clean the pilot jet (and all other jets) yourself.
Out of curiosity, what work was done?
