Help! Electical problems!

I had one hell of a day yesterday with my motorbike - it broke at the bottom of a green lane, and when I finally got it out, the RAC dropped it off the back of their lorry.
But this is not why I am posting (except for a little sympathy maybe). I am posting because my bike cut out and I can't afford a mechanic (and if I can't get to work then I may die of starvation or be forced to eat flies and cowpats).

I have a 2002 SM125cc - the bike stopped and no lights will come on or anything. The RAC seem to think it was the ignition, but the guys at Graham's said that that was pretty unlikely. Battery's fine, fuse's are fine
How do I check where the problem is - do I need a voltmeter?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Please speak slowly and clearly 'cos I'm from Devon.

Hi David,
just to say thanks for your reply. It looks like someone has removed the relay that you're talking about (I can't find it and the bike works fine with the stand down).
Turned out to be a fault with the ignition in the end. Graham's sent me the part in a day and I fitted it pretty quick so it was all good.

cheers
