Engine dying RT125

Hello everyone,
So I've got my rt 125 about a year ago with 25000 miles on it. Had small issue with back brake slow speed of 55-60mph which I was told was normal on a previous post.
Now few weeks ago changed my oil filter, oil and air filter. The bike was a bit punchier bur no big change in tp speed.
Bike was running fine and slightly quieter until last week wen the engine just died while cruising on 45mph.
No smoke, no funny noise.
So had to be rescued by van. They tested the fuel, battery and air blocks. Everything looks fine.
But the engine will not go above tick over and takes before dying.
I drained the oil and checked the oil filter, I found a lot of copper coloured metal pieces in oil and filter.
I put in new oil and let it idle for 5 mins. Still no improvement.
Can you tell me what's the likely damage? I don't want to take it in garage to then be charged for labour abd be told it can't be rescued. Any suggestions?
