Carb. jet for mountain riding??

Postby Nozz » Fri Jun 26, 2009 12:04 pm

I am considering taking my 500 Rotax Silver Star to Colorado on the back of an RV next week. I have heard that the main jet needs to be changed for mountain riding, so I don't want to bother hauling it up there if it won't run. I am in Texas, and my bike has the stock Bing carb, but was rejetted for the Ron Wood exhaust. Let me know if anyone has some experience with this. Thanks in advance.

the bmw bikes i ran in colorado in the 70's had much the same carb and ran ok with out jet change
below 9000 feet above 9000 they would run but poor went down one main size from what was in it
perry in ft worth should have the one you need
and on top of pikes peak park close to the exit road as you will have to bump start most bikes down the hill
and stopping on top of mountain pass is remember to park where you can bump it off
if above 9000 feet asl
