I need a new piston and re-bore for my ETZ251 who is the best supplier for Quality parts are pattern parts ok can I get DDR pistons ............What do you think. I have a good engineering shop close to me, but I want to give them the piston and get it bored to suit rather than let them get me a random piston.

I Googled the question and my new cc will be 265cc about 10% over standard , just hope I get an extra 10% torque ..

10% more torque will mean 20% less on the miles per gallon
MY father said that was Murphys law sort of like "the faster i go the behinder i get!"
dave
you did not say the stroke its 65 mm i think ori 65x69= 243cc
75.5mm piston =291cc but check that may be as big as you can go and still be able to rebore it again
a couple times depends on how much metal is available to cut away
301 may be wishful thinking without a custom barrel and some crank work or there is the problem
of suitable pistons and the other thing is it may turn it into a GAS HOG
and at fuel prices in the uk this is not high on anyones list of things to do...

What you say is true, but I don't ride bikes to save money its for fun .The new cars on sale in Europe are cheaper to run than any bike have ever owned (70 +mpg ) .
The UK importer Wilf Green sold an importer special bored out to 300 ish with the std barrel ,and the German parts supplier you recommended will sell me a 300 cc barrel and piston kit that fits on the 251 with no modifications to the crankcases, but they warn the liner is a lot thinner than std.
So you pay your money and take you choice My barrel on close inspection is too damaged to use without taking out to +3 mm . Second hand engine parts arnt hard to find in the UK so when this barrel is banjaxed I can get another without to much expense.................

the problem with cars here is parking my side yard is the neighborhood parking lot
everyone is out of room
there are 2 trucks a car and 3 trailers and when every one is home there driveways are full
the bus routes never go where you need to go and mopeds are defined as a motorcycle so no one has one anymore
because its just as expensive as a real bike
and bicycles suck because its all big hills and always 3 to 5 miles one way to what you need to do....

I fixed the transportation problem by moving to a small town
so I can walk to the bank, post office, grocery store, etc
I must confess that I still have to drive 61 miles to work one way
But the upside is 3, 12 hour shifts and I'm done for the week.
Point is........ I agree with you about the moped issue. And I like little
bikes, but don't want to burn them up running vast distances.

That is the reason why we all need lots of motorcycles,Gentle rides out and ripping up the road touring the world one bike cant do it all, (unless you know better) and its what I tell my wife when another one arrives.

What in the considered opinion of our experts is the optimum for an ETZ251 piston to bore clearance after a fresh re-bore ? and how far do I need to run it in for. your thoughts and advice would be welcome.............

You surely know that ETZ and TS pistons are different.
The seller offer pistons for MZ 250, this could be anything.
So good luck
