ETZ 250 Comfort

Postby Andy_C » Sun Jun 23, 2019 2:54 am

Does anyone have any suggestions for iimproving the seat comfort on an ETZ 250?

I found that on the return leg of my recent 210 mile ride the seat started to get really uncomfortable, to put it bluntly my rear feels a bit sore in places today.

The bike took the 210 miles in it's stride but the seat let it down - some of it may be down to the seat being quite narrow, some down to it feeling quite hard.

Any suggestions ?

Hi Andy, hope you enjoyed your trip!

Yes, I too get a bit of a sore bum if I make enough miles, on the MZ more so than on other bikes. And 210 miles is quite a distance.

While mine's a 251, not a 250, I understand the riding position is pretty similar. I put it down to your feet being too far forward, which increases the load on the posterior.

Try riding with your feet on the footsteps as far back as possible, or on the pillion footrests. And stand up from time to time.

The other thing is, maybe your seat is too soft. It sounds a bit counter-intuitive, but a hard seat is better for blood circulation, and I believe is preferred by long distance riders. My (new) seat is too soft.

I agree with Puffs.

As a long distance rider of my MZ's,

The 250 seat on mine is from the earliest age of ETZ250 so is quite used and the foam quite perished- despite the outside cover looking pretty prestine!

My 251 seat is a lot confier than my 250- but I think that is down to my age/use of 250 seat- for my brother's still has a nice bounce!

For easier riding on the bum- as puffs has said, fold out the passenger pegs and use them to rest your feet on.. It makes a big difference to the stress of the legs at high speed motorway journeys! Also, sheepskin can relieve a bit of pressure too.
