Racks and boxes for MZ Country

Postby brixtoncat » Fri Oct 10, 2008 3:58 pm

Hi,

I have a MZ Country 500 as well, just recently bought from a bike collector: black color with 2200 miles, first registration 2002 - nice bike, really!

Rider27 mentioned that he added Aluminum boxes on hepco becker racks, see his image here: download/file.php?id=585
Who is the manufacturer of these boxes and what size (in liter and measures) do they have?

SW-Motech (http://www.sw-motech.com) has similar ones but according to their information, they don't fit to the Hepco & Becker racks. Bernd Tesch also offers alu boxes (http://www.berndtesch.de) - they all look similar but still, none of these match Riders27'.

Can anybody give me advice as the Hepco & Becker website (http://www.hepco-becker.de) does not give any information that other boxes than their own ones would fit to the rack. They list the rack with order number 650743.0001 on their website.

I've found another image of the same boxes (back view).

Tks for your help!

if he is located in the usa --- we here are noted for making things to make it work
he may have made something to make it fit..
you know it only takes a big hammer to make it work correct when its home made
i have a saxon tour and have made my own mount for bags and also on my
rt125 the mount is home made ...
the saxon tour one is even getting a trailer hitch and maybe a side car sub frame

picture of partly finisned saxon tour mount on request may fit country as well

As far as I know, the only bags that fit without modification to H-B racks are their own. The aluminum panniers shown appear to be very similar to those made for the Kawasaki KLR and sold by Whitehorse: Image. Full info. here: http://www.whitehorsepress.com/product_ ... ts_id=5637 To use those you'll definitely have to make some mounting brackets/adapters or bolt them up solid.

I too have a Country and hope one day to mount some hardbags, I'm leaning more towards these or the side opening style of the same: http://www.casesbypelican.com/app-1430.htm . I'm too cheap to shell out nearly $300 for the H-B rack system, so will make my own instead.

Hi Charlie,

cool, you are right, these are really the boxes I was looking for. tks a lot!

H&B is charging quite a lot for their products - well, I suppose it must be quality stuff then unless you pay for the name only.

Bye the way, the crash bars for the MZ Country are 265 $ in Europe, not bad either.

Good idea to do some work yourself, at least you get what you really want and it fits properly to your bike. With such projects, you can make it through the winter season easely :-)!

The H-B stuff for Moto Guzzis is top-notch, but I just can't rationalize spending that much.

Crashbars are on my list of additions too - do you have any photos of them? I'd like to make some to help protect that big, beautiful fuel tank!

Thanks! That does help. Seems like a lot of money for something that simple though.
