Next question in my quest to get the Eisen schwein on the road: what oil to use for the gearbox? Manual recommends GL60 which I suspect is now manufatcured in Unobtainia! Failing that a straight 40 grade. What do the folk here use?

You will probably get as many different answers as people! But Ill start with my choice Silkolene Gear Oil Light SAE 75/80. Its an EP oil so the viscocity is more like a 10/30 engine oil

I Recomend either an ep80 or ep90 hypoid fully synthetic gear oil. I run mine on ep90 and never had troubles

Thanks all. Unipart had a synthetic 75-80 so that went in. Then came out again when the kickstart pawl refused to engage. All good now though and the bike started after two kicks. Couple of minor wiring issues to sort and then insure and MOT on the horizon.

Sounding good. A tip if the kickstart refuses to engage, before you take it all apart give the end of the kickstart shaft a swift clout with a hammer!
