ETZ 251 Front brake has 2 settings, ON and OFF

Hi Guys,

My brake woes continue, i left the bike standing for the whole of last week and it dumped brake fluid all over the front wheel. This looked to be from a leaky hose fitting so i replaced it and bled the brakes and all seemed good again. However whilst riding to work today i noticed i had almost nothing on the front brake until i gev it a proper handful and then it would lock. Any ideas?

Thanks

Tom

Wondering if the brake pads got soaked in brake fluid and got sticky when it dried out?

Sounds like there is still air in the system, more bleeding I think.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies. I was testing the brake last night and noticed that when i brake hard to a standstill using the front brake only and then accelerate away I can feel the brake binding on the disc. This suggests i probably need some new pads?

Thanks

Tom

P.s. i also put my finger underneath the connection between caliper and hose and when i withdrew it it was wet with brake fluid. Looks like that isn't sealing properly either.

Could just be a sticky brake piston, or just that the pads aren't free to move on the spring or guide rods in the caliper.

Might only need the rods and spring lightly lubricated and a clean-up of the pads.

make sure that the front master cylinder lever returns all the way
the piston needs to let fluid pass freely into the reservoir in both directions
when not in use. In the first couple mm of movement it closes off the reservoir
if it can not do this then in hot weather the brakes may be applied by fluid expansion
also it can not take on new fluid either ....

Hi Guys,

After i finally got a good seal at the caliper and turned my attention to the master cylinder. Seems the seals had gone at that end too and replacing them has given me a good firm brake. Thanks for all your help.

Had same issue with mine after i reattached front tire you need to loosen your front wheel and while tightening it you must work the hand break and turn the wheen then tighten after the brakes have fell into place
