hello i have a 1996 251 saxon tour , it starts and settles to a nice tickover at 1200 rpm , but when i try to ride off it feels like the choke is on all the time and it will not rev , it has an almost new bing carb , can anyone help ?, also on the throttle twistgrip ther are 2 holes for the throttle cable , does the cable fit the top or bottom hole ? thanks

Have you checked that the Main jet hasn't fallen out and is now lying in the bottom of the bowl?
Double check the Air filter, if it's substantially blocked then it will run like that, similarly if the tube which runs up the spine of the frame has collapsed then it will have similar symptoms too.
If I remember right, the needle needs to be on the 2nd groove from the top.
The 2 positions for the throttle cable are for the Throttle and the Oil pump cable. I think I used to fit the throttle cable into the innermost groove, logic being that it's further from weather and dirt, since it's the most important cable (the one you least want to bind and fail).
Finally, make sure the choke ISN'T on, the rubber ages, fails and allows fuel to pass.
Dave.
