Suspension rubber mounts

Amongst the parts I have collected to use are new upper rubber mounts for the suspension
The rubber mount seem to be too large
Again I can not post photos
The rubbers are about 10mm to large.
Is this normal?
Should I just trim them? or squash the rubber up?
