New to MZ bikes

Postby oldbeginner » Tue Jun 29, 2004 7:58 am

Hi everyone. I'm Tom and live in Hickory, NC. I'm and old begining racer and have just bought a 95/96 Skorpion Sport that I'm going to try and learn how to race on late this year or next. I'm needing to fine out as much info on these bikes as I can get. So if you have any words of wisdom, I'm all ears. Also I need to know where I could get some body parts if nedded. The bike I bought was (as I was told) used as a practice bike for a racer named Alex with a number 46 on it.
I'll waiting your info.

Thanks
Tom

i don't have a skorpion... yet, but my baghira is a smooth, powerful beast. i have no mods on it yet except for a 31 tooth 'highway' spocket. best of luck on the racing, keep us posted on how it goes. who knows, you may inspire another old begining racer.

Sweet

I have to say, that bike looks pretty sweet. Do all the Skorpions have a tube frame like that or just that racer. Well good luck and I hope all goes well. Looks like that is going to be a lot of fun.

We used to get a version of this on the road in the UK and it uses the frame as shown. Its called the sport cup over here. I know a dealer who works on a tuned one with approx 80BHP at the rear wheel. Just a tad more power than my baggie :P

The bike that Ray Dentith has is an awesome piece of kit and as Keith says, it was very succesful. I am going in to see Ray this week and I will see if he has any photos ( not that I know how to post them yet but I'm sure someone will tell me how!!) and I will take the digital camera with me ......

I'm going to race this bike in WERA in the mid atlantic, and southern areas. WERA requires a belly pan to catch oil if needed. Does anyone know where I can get one (us or uk). I'd also like to see about the lower fairing like the skorpion cup bikes.

This bike is a 95/96. I don't know when they stopped making it but they use to a what was called the skorpion cup that raced these bikes with strict rules as to what you could do to them.

Spoke to Ray Dentith the other day. The bike is for sale, dont know full spec, but it has a 105mm piston fitted giving a displacement of 727cc. It also has ohlins upside down fors and PFM 6 pot calipers and discs kit fitted so should stop as well as it goes. Apperently its an ex works bike from MZ, hence the price, £7000 or £9000 with spares forks wheels and brakes etc.

Would you be interested in buying a complete 2000 Skorpion Tour for parts? $1600 and located in Delaware. I can supply more details and photos if you are interested.

No thanks. Not in need of that many spares yet. I'll contact you later if needed to see if you still have it.
Thanks anyway
