As for the rubber chain guide causing this is weird. Mine would do it in any gear, but always when accellerting. Spent ages buggering about with the carb, using fuel cleaners etc., convinced it was a fuelling problem. Often the cheapest fix works. Now enjoy your bike.........even with it's dodgy tacho.
