new US MZ owner

Postby frederickflintstone » Mon Dec 10, 2007 7:42 pm

Hi, I just purchased a 2002 MZ 660 super moto. the previous owner didnt have an owners manual or any paperwork what so ever. I was hoping someone could hook me up with pdf files of basic service/maintainance items, or any info that may be usefull. some sources of parts in the USA, and even maybe some local (michigan) owners of these type of bikes. I have a 2001 yamaha 660 raptor so I am accuainted with the engine, but I have allready noticed that my raptor has a spin on oil filter whearas the MZ does not. Any info, weblinks, helpful advice that you wish to impart would be appricated.
thanks

welcome, and congrats on the purchase. alot of the small stuff can be had between a yamaha dealer (engine, hubs, chain and sprockets) KTM (controls, some switches, rear shock flap, radiator louvers).

Dave has parts books on PDF, and I think the engine manual on PDF, when he gets healthy again, I am sure he will send them to you.

Anything else, just ask!

PS, oil filter is same as yamaha XT600ee, same as front and rear hubs. make sure to clean the screen in the banjo bolt at the bottom of the down tube with your oil changes.

Thanks for the oil filter info, I will need to order some. what about an air filter? I would realy like to run a k&n like all my other vehicles. I also need an ignition key blank as I only got one key with the bike. I am waiting for warmer weather as i havent ridden a bike since I sold my other homemade suppermoto last summer.

sorry, the pdfs didnt come thru to my email. i did download the partslist from the website the the other person posted. that was very helpfull as well.
I appreciate your efforts, I am ammazed how well digital information works, even when it doesn't.. im not in a hurry for this stuff yet as it is too cold to ride here, and i am recovering from knee surgury, but come spring i will be wanting to do alot of stuff to the bike.

I got a delivery failure messae from Yahoo. I will send you a test email with nothing attached to check out whether I got your address right. If you get that I will try the attachments again.

Others on here will probably have the wiring diagrams, forks manual and szr workshop manual so I am sure you will be able to lay your hands on them even if i cant get them through.

Computer wizardry isnt really my thing !!

Cheers

No Jap bike cross reference, it's a KTM fitment.. here's some more info, the factory parts catalog and an alternate parts list put together by all the forum members over the years. BTW, you can get the stock Twin-Air filter from Amsoil too.

Try SFMoto in San Fran for a replacement key, those guys are the bomb, at least one guy still rides a Baggi.

I want to thank everyone who has sent me pdf's and links!!! I now have alot of service manuals, parts list, and even a parts interchange list. I love the camaraderie of user groups like this. all the replys and pm's have been great ,thanks again!!! what I am still lacking is a basic owners manual. I know it is rather mundane stuff but I would still like to read it. if anyone can help that would be great. thanks!
