Mz Traveller -vs- Vstrom

Postby Revill » Mon Mar 10, 2008 11:28 am

Howdy:

My name is Revill, and I am a motorcycle nut. (group: "Hi Revill!")

My latest bit of silliness is yet another trip to Alaska from Texas. Last time I did this it took a full month of 500 mile days. This time, I'd like to see something. So, not being retired yet I have decided to fly in to Anchorage or Fairbanks, buy a bike and ride it home. I need a new bike anyway. My road bike ((96 Pacific Coast) is fairly worn out at only 112,000 miles and my W650 is a cruiser. Great around town, lousy at distance.

I've turned up a couple of Vstroms, a really tempting Adventure 990, and....... A MuZ Traveller. I tried to buy one of those about five years ago, new. I waited and waited, and finally gave up and bought the PC. Good thing. They stopped importing them just about then. My Traveller never did arrive.

And now, I have a chance to buy one and ride it 5,000 miles home.

Since I'm now officially a senior member of the population and stand nearly 6'3", the tight crouch riding position is no longer very comfy. That's why I was looking at dual sports. But... A traveller? Am I about to do something really stupid?

if you plan on keeping it a long time buy the mz ...it will keep some value as a collector bike
the v strom is nice but in 10 years and 100,000 miles you will have to pay to have some one haul it away....
they will run the stamping press till there are so many of them they will just be..
.. ho hum its just an other suzuki in need of a home ....sort of like a KLR 650 :smt040

I agree 100%. But..... And I mean that literally...... are you familiar with the accomodations of the Traveller? Will a tall and not so bendable anymore guy make it home on this thing? I had a GB500 for a couple years until I stumbled across the W650 and swapped. It's so much easier on the ol' spine. Am I going to feel the same way about the Traveller?
