Hi Group, I stopped riding in '05 but after getting on a bike again earlier this spring decided I was missing out on too much so I lucked upon an immaculate Skorpion Tour and snapped it up last week. Always admired the MZ bikes but being inseam challenged this was the only model I can flatfoot. Awesome bike in awesome condition with only 1250 miles on it. Purchase was a bit impulsive and I found I was missing my previous mount's lighter weight and more flickable carving abilities so with age creeping up and spring popping I just got back from the local Buell dealer with my new '08 Blast. The Skorpion Tour will be up in the classifieds for sale. It's located just west of Philadelphia. That's a lovely looking bike there, especially considering its age. It's a shame it's not a keeper for you, hopefully someone will give it a loving home - you're the wrong side of the Atlantic for me to add it to my collection!

Re Blast - I'm probably just traumatised about Buells (long, long story which explains why I love my MZ 250 2-smokes so much...) but do make sure you've got good breakdown cover... My XB9S spent more time off the road than on it...

do not sell the mz till you have had a chance to really put miles on it
give it a chance and i bet it is in the shed at your house long after the blast is gone

good advise from you both. It won't break the bank to keep it and the new Buell with 7 miles on it won't hold an idle and keeps stalling, probably the jets are a bit clogged from sitting in the crate or whatever and the bike needs to be run a bit. I hope the MZ will become a somewhat extravagant keeper, time will tell.

Looks like it is in mint condition I own an old ETZ and love it don’t think I will ever sell it but then again I have three other bikes I won’t sell either.

the biggest problems with bike you like is .... that you drive it forever and can;t find something better.
I drove my goldwing for 14 years and it guess the baghira will stick as well

i rode a r90s bmw for 28 years nice bike but will not trade the rt125 for one ....nuf said dave

Don't sell the Skorpion. you'll be sorry, have had mine for 7 years and 96,000 Klms and it has been a pleasure to own and ride. Built on the KIS & LIM principle (keep it simple,less is more). Simple, plain construction,less to go wrong , so more time for riding. Keep it ,it will out last the Buell.

Hi again from 2002 Skorpion Tour owner,

I did get the title and put it up on Craigslist but I am contemplating keeping it and putting on a Holeshot exhaust to get some better sound and performance out of it. Hoping to get away without the minor re-jet tweak that Holeshot recommends. Any feedback on the re-jet or not issue is welcome, I may post this on the 660 forum later if I decide to keep it. Thanks Group for your comments regarding keeping it, definitely planted seeds... It will be very difficult to let this way cool and unique bike go!

Jim, I don't think selling the Skorpion and keeping the Blast is a good step. The Blast may be 20-30 lbs lighter, but it's a simpler, less sophisticated machine (two valves, air cooled, 500cc, 34 hp, 30 ftlbs torque). For only slightly more wt, the Skorpion has 5 valves, liq cooling, 660cc, 48 hp, 41 ftlbs. The Skor has so much better performance. Am I missing something re the attraction of the Blast?

Thanks for the comments and advise all! I have decided to keep the Tour for a while, it's really a great bike and always available when the Blast is in the middle of being tinkered with. Joe, after the Blast gets an aftermarket exhaust, a rejet and a K&N filter it's a incredible ride especially on twisty roads. Kind of reminds me of the Triumphs I grew up on back in the '60's, unsophisticated and raw also like my old BSA 441 Shooting Star. Cheers, Jim.

MZ SKORPION TOUR. 2002. 1200 original miles. - $3800 (Philadelphia suburbs.)

This rare classic German bike is as close to new as you will find. Beautifully maintained it is in perfect stock condition. I am reluctantly putting this up for sale with a new battery and PA inspection. It has just been serviced with all systems checked out and has a fresh oil change and filter and comes with owners manual and various spare parts. It is built from the most robust components available and is considered a "naked sport tourer". The engine is a "big single" 660cc.
