Stinky,
i have two 1000 cc Aprilia's and don't bother with checking the valves as the guys on that forum< which is a huge worldwide forum>have them checked at 6, 8, 20 ,30,ooo and never have any out of spec,Rotax motors,if your plugs are easy to get to check those, they can tell you a lot about how things are running.http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/index.php
Check it out and best of luck a ton of those guys /girls from that forum are going to Indianapolis for Moto Gp in Sept here is the thread ,there are over 300 going.Check it out,you might want to go with these guys/girls as they will lap the track on their bikes.19 tickets left.Too far and hot for me to go.

Hey Stnkfeet2000 and Iceman,
Just bought a 1000 SF with over 10,000 km on it from the local importer. Runs beautifully. But there are no dealers here in New Zealand, let alone parts and workshop knowhow on MZ 1000s. I too have thoughts/consideration regarding valves and clearances. The manual suggests checking them at 20,000 km after there initial service at 1,000 km. (0.12 - 0.20 mm inlet and 0.22 - 0.30 exhaust). I would welcome any suggestions on ckecking them as you clock up mileage - the buckets are not exactly of the K-Mart available type. If you have checked clearances I would love to know what there are at the relevant mileage which might give me some gauge of what to expect.
