MZ status.

Postby djsbriscoe » Thu Jul 17, 2008 12:26 pm

Hi,
Here is the current status of MZ straight from the horses mouth.

Dear David,

thanks for the wishes!!!

This is the current situation:

--> our Management is talking to 6 different parties about buying MZ
and our local ministry of commerce is checking them all regarding financial background and their concept.

They have time until the end of July to make an offer and then we will see.

Keep your fingers crossed!!!

With regards / Mit freundlichen Gru?en

they know how to build good bikes
and the basic daily driver will sell well as the gas goes up
there are twice as many bikes on the road in my area as last year

David,

Thanks for looking into it, and thanks for posting the response. I'm quite heartened to hear that they might yet survive.

When I first heard about the factory closing, I wasn't that bummed. But having ridden my Baggy to the U.S. MotoGP races this weekend (and you all know how much attention our bikes get when at random motorcycle events), I became increasingly depressed by having to end every explanation of what a great bike it is with "yeah, but they've just announced that they're shutting down the factory and going out of business."

It would be really nice to START one of these conversations by someone approaching me and saying "Wow, that's one of those MZs I've heard about. I can't wait to see the new models I've been seeing in all the motorcycle magazines."
