Postby mzsrus » Thu Jul 24, 2008 3:43 pm

Der Motorenhersteller Wankel AG HAVE PUT A BID IN FOR MZ AS OF TODAY 3PM GERMAN TIME,

WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS, THERE ARE ALSO A FEW OTHER COMPANIES LOOKING AT MZ,

THE FUTRUE LOOKS BRIGHTER AND IT COULD BE WITH ROTARY ENGINE POWER, PERHAPS THE ONLY MOTORCYCLES MADE IN THE WORLD WITH THIS WANKEL ENGINE LIKE MZ DID TRY WITH A PROTOTYPE BACK IN THE EARLY SIXTIES.

BYE FOR NOW

From 'Motorrad' magazine - Germany.

TURNING POINT forMZ?
Engine manufacturer Wankel AG is obviously interested in a takeover of MZ.
The Free Press reports Mario Haberer - Chairman Wankel AG and the Saxony Economics Minister Thomas Jurk already had preliminary discussions. This was confirmed by MZ employees, however it was stressed that there are a large number of investors in contact and there were still no concrete commitments.
Haberer founded Wankel AG in 2002 having bought the Wankel bankruptcy.Rotary engines mainly for use in light aircraft, boats & sports karts are manufactured. The interest of Wankel AG is that it was realised that MZ was the worlds' first manufacturer of a rotary engined sports motorcycle in the Sixties. This could provide opportunities for the establishment of a sports motorcycle with a rotary engine.
Wankel AG are seeking 5 million Euros for the MZ brand & works, Haberer hopes to loans on special terms, a government guarantee & holding company.

Will update ASAP

Simon Greenwood.

David
One hell of a lot of work has been carried out on the rotary piston engine over the last 30 years not least by Brian Creighton (ex Norton Engineer) He has now achieved fuel efficiancies better than equivalent reciprocating engines. He has achieved this by the use of direct fuel injection and variable length induction tracts. His recently published paper seems to confirm this.

a fuel efficacy rotary wonderful

but i see the finished bike as something which i can not plug my laptop into and work on my self
but take it to dealer and pay prices even the rich guys howl at .....
and i can not afford
local bmw shop =85usd now
rebuilding my 1963 r50 s is looking better all the time
dave

ps the bike electrical systems are starting to suck....
i have been working on electrical for over 50 years
bikes .2 way radios computers 3 phase motors
and the new bike electrical is leaving even me in the dark
and bmw will sue you if you hack any of there software and tell how to fix
any of its problems with the black box software code
if they made it open soft ware there are probably 100 bmw riders in the usa alone
that could write better code to run the bike in 2 weeks...
its a bunch of BS

Dave, people copy chips that plug into ECU 's on all the major brands of bikes and they sell on Ebay all the time.

When it comes to this kind of stuff it's only a matter of time and BMW ,ect, ect can't do anything about it.It's like a bootleg copy of windows XP how hard is that to get and Bill Gates,oh well,he just retired as a Billionair and is happy that his software is being used and not another like Linix.
Apple,ect.

With Aprilia they program with a special tool called Axeon that you need to flash an ECU,so that's why Power Commanders sell for over $300
they allow you the user to do it with a laptop.

I think this thread is going a bit off-topic, but the 1000S is the first fuel-injected bike I have had and I have invested in the TuneBoy software which allows me to interrogate the ECU and see what any current faults are, and also to view the history of past faults. It allows me to reset the ECU and make basic tests, and the TuneEdit software allows me to re-program the ECU. I hate not being able to fix things myself and think that, although the software and cable cost £245, it will pay for itself at the first fault. Incidentally, if anyone is having a problem with their 1000S, let me know - I might now be able to find the fault! I'm based in the Midlands, UK.

And finally............it's the end of the month - is MZ going to be rescued or what?

Goodnight ladies and gentlemen

Did you get the tuneboy kit direct from them or through a dealer? How good is it? I will be at the MZ factory in October as I am visiting friends nearby. I will be clutching my list of questions!

Mr Thompson
I fully understand your frustration with modern auto electrics. As far as I am concerned any machine that is sold without the means to interrogate its systems is an incomplete machine, and as you are paying for a complete machine then you have been cheated. Aside from that, the whole ethos is an exercise in profiteering b------t that insults the intelligence of the average Motorcyclist.

So, has anyone heard anymore about this? The factory has been around since 1922, so it would make sense if another german company were to buy it.
I wonder what will happen to the 125s. Aren't those made in Malaysia? Any news on that?

Dear all,

can you help, MZ Motorcycles of Germany is shutting down on Dec 31st 2008, can you help this one giant in the mbike industry by telling everyone, this great firm cannot be closed and someone perhaps BMW Motorad should buy.

Best wishes
