Future spares.

Postby mishko » Fri Aug 08, 2008 9:32 pm

Hello everybody. I have owned my silver 1000s for a yeay and a half and have sofar ridden it close to 8000 miles, a terriffic bike with poise and an uncanny balance. I have done nothing to it other than regular oil changes, I've always used K&n 163, obtainable everywhere for about $12.00, and drillrd a couple of holes in the air box ( makes quite a differance to sound and performance). :smt006 I live in north Miami Florida and believe that I own the only 1000 mz around here. Like most of you I have been following the sad news coming out of zschopau with crossed fingers, hopefully someone will come to the rescue of this great motorcycle company. German federal law assures owners of products from defunct companies a continious supply of spares for a minimum of 10 years after the fact. Just a little piece of info here to lighten your heavy hearts shold the worse occures.

Hi Mishko - I read with interest that you use K&n 163. What vehicle does that fit? I too have done the airbox mod and yes it does work well. :-D

The K & N number you quote is it for an air or oil filter?

Hi all. The K&N 163 fits all BMW's with the 1150cc engine, it's a perfect fit for the MZ 1000cc motor, it has a 10mm bolt and is much easier to use than the expensive hardly obtainable OEM filters.I,m refering to the oil filters here. These are readily available at any outlet where K&N filters are sold, beautifuly constructed and look and feel superior to most all other filters.
