New MZ owner in Dublin, Ireland

Postby gaasen » Sun Feb 22, 2009 5:47 pm

Hi there, I'm new here and just wanted to say hello.

I just got a MZ 250 which I believe is a MZ TS 250 1974 model. (Still waiting for the logbook). In addition a have a Suzuki Intruder VS800 1996

There is however a bit of work to do before I will be able to hear what these MZ engines sound like:) I have ordered and are waiting for the 12v electrical kit and will also do a cleaning of the tank with the POR kit before I attempt to start this thing up. I am in good faith though as the compression is good and the bike looks quite clean.

When the above is sorted I will proceed to the esthetic parts such as respraying, etc.

Should have most of the parts but expect to have to route through ebay and any other recommended places. Would appreciate any pointers wrt. spare parts etc.

Also, anyone know if there are any MZ owners in Ireland?

All the best.
Goran

Welcome Goran,at first i thought the flag by your profile was Italian and then i googled Irish flag and then Italian they look exactly the same.
You would think i would have known this as I'm 100% Irish !
So what is the difference ? same color's same arrangement of color, how can this be ?
You're just left with yourself all the time, whatever you do anyway. You've got to get down to your own God in your own temple. It's all down to you, mate.

Thanks Iceman,,
These small flags could for sure be a bit misleading. The Irish flag should be Green-White-Gold(orange) , whereas the Italian is Green-White-Red. :D

Got the new electrical system for the MZ today, so the hard work starts now.........

Hi Goran,
There are a number of MZ riders in Ireland, enough to set up an Irish Section of the MZRC. http://www.mzridersclub.co.uk/
If you send me a PM I'll send you the e-mail address of the Club contact in Ireland (I don't want to put someone's e-mail address on an open forum). I'll also give you details of a good spares supplier in the UK who doesn't have an e-mail address.
The Irish Section holds a rally in September each year in Ballacolla, Co. Laois, and the NI Section has a rally each May in Garrison, Co. Fermanagh.
There are plenty of MZ spares on British Ebay, so take advantage of the weak pound!
It might also be worth joining the mz_riders e-group on Yahoo http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mz_riders/ Lots of information about 2 stroke MZs, and the members include the former Irish MZ importer.
Hope this is of some help.

Iceman asked 'So what is the difference ? same color's same arrangement of color, how can this be ?' Simple answer - Bhéadh fhios agat dá mbeifeá Éireannach.
