Hi Wupper',

Schwarz! Mmmmmm! Meine Lieblingsfarbe! Willkommen zum Forum!

Hi Wupper,

Another German member - excellent!!! Although I've lived in Britain for over 45 years, I was born in Iserlohn - very close to you. I've visited Wuppertal often - a superb place.

That is a beautiful looking bike in the picture eh? ........... Black! Mmmmm! My favourite colour!

Welcome to the forum!

That's the overhead railway system that had the baby elephant fall out of it on its way to the Tiergarten, right?

Heh heh heh ......... Hi Robert. Yes, my father was in the forces - but perhaps not the one you're thinking of. He was a Korvettenleutnant in the German Kriegsmarine. :-D I'm as German as a very German thing.

The garrison you refer to in Iserlohn was at the old Seydlitz Kaserne or, as the British called it 'Corunna Barracks', and on the main road from Iserlohn to Hemer. The last I heard it was home to 3 Armoured Div, Royal Engineers. Mind you, that was few years back - I was posted there myself.

I joined the Army to see the world (I joined the British Army because I didn't want to be conscripted as a Panzergrenadier .... and because they helped pay me through uni  ) ........... and got posted home! Typical of my bloody luck.

Regards
Erm .... Robert (Bob)

  Nice find Wuppi'! We learned all about this when I was a kid in Germany. I bought my daughters a book about it called "Tuffi und die Schwebebahn". :smt005

There used to be a huge painting of Tuffi on a wall near where it happened. Is it still there? :D
