Bought it

Postby billr » Wed Aug 05, 2009 3:18 pm

2002 Skorpion Tour. It was purchased new in 2008 by the previous owner. I just picked it up with 297 miles on the odometer. Stock, no mods at all.
This is a blast to ride.
My prior experience has been on "crotch rockets" and dirt bike/enduros.
I really like the power delivery from the thumper much better.
It'll be a daily commuter (barring icy conditions).
Thanks for this site.

I'm in Nashville, TN.
I found the bike completely by "accident".
Did the Craigslist thing and had a few scoped out, all out of town.
Planning for the "road trip" to pick one up.

Went into the local shop one day to check on tires for my enduro and there it sat. :D
No local ads or anything.

I've already put 140 miles on it (gently, gently) and I'm impressed.
Power delivery is just what I had hoped and it loves the curves (as do I  )

Driving in my truck one time (Ford Ranger), 3 across, so we were close up.
Friend next to me said "WILL YOU STOP THAT!!"
I said "What!, I ain't doin' nothing"??
He said "That" when we went around a curve.
I was dropping my "inside" knee every time and when it was a right, I nudged his leg..........
Didn't even realize I was doing that.

Very nice! Below is a pic of another 02 Skorpion Tour that recently sold on Ebay. Was the front fairing optional on these bikes? I can't decide which one I like better..........

I called the owner of this bike in Boston last year or maybe 2007 and I asked about the bags and fairing and he said the owner of Bikeworks in MA. did it for himself but decided to sell it so at some point it was available.you might want to google bikeworks and talk to the owner.I think his name is Galen.
I just did the 440 mile Natchez Trace Parkway from beginning to end and it dumps you into your home town. The best part was the Nashville end. :D I did a fly and drive Ebay buy for an MZ 1000 SF from Austin TX to Vermont 2,500 miles.

Thanks Ice. But I'm in 'Bama, pretty close to the Music City. Originally from VT (S. Burlington). I'm a new MZ guy (SilverStar) but had quite a few singles in the past, and I'm lovin' the Rotax so far and am looking for some helmet buffeting relief for my bike. Looks like I'll go with a headlight mount Flyscreen or similar. How's the 1000 working out? Thought seriously about one, but was concerned about future engine parts availability. Yeah, and that Natchez Trace Parkway is a nice ride.

Sorry,I got billr from Nashville mixed up with your post.I live in Burlington by Leddy Park.
When did you move out of Vermont ? What a change you made
The 1000 SF is a lot of fun.I just got the title from the state today.I'm going to crisscross the mountain gaps tomorrow, nice weather all week 75 degrees.
When I picked it up in TX on the 4th of July it was 105 degrees about 38 C Reminded me of August in Italy.

Left VT many years ago. Grew up on Dorset St. on a dairy farm and decided early on this was NOT what I wanted. Freeking cows never took a holiday. Joined the Navy, retired, then Civil Service, most all in the Pacific. Just recently back in the States, last duty station was in Huntsville, liked it, so we decided to stay. Yeah, this time of year VT is one of the most beautiful places on earth. But don't want to hack the winters anymore. :D

Sounds like you have a nice trip planned. Enjoy mate.

Dave, think that 511 fairing on your RT125 could be adapted to a SilverStar? Exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks.

Cows on Dorset Street, that was a long time ago.

Now Dorset has the largest mall in Vermont and a Jack Nickolas golf course with all the houses and townhouses all around it.I've been here since 1992.
