Hi there
New member from Co Durham England,Just rescued a ts250/1 from 10YRS sleep.Going to put back on road as a daily commuter.Had a lend of one of these bikes in the early eighties and despite comments like(its that ugly a dog would not piss on it) i was very impressed with its running costs&performance. Are there any parts/things that are getting hard to get?or are most parts available?
Regards John

Ha sounds just like mine.
Was going to restore it but cost i.e. wheel rebuilding, paint, chrome, etc. etc seems to be three times the value of the finished bike.
So ive decided just to run it (as is) in all its faded glory. Most of the mechanical /running gear are in working order.Had to replace the flasher relay&indicator bulbs for 10w items to get a regular flash and that satisfied the nice m.o.t. man.So far 285miles and the bike is running ok.seems to get better as the miles go by.Only a charging problem so sort out now(hopefuly a dirty connection)Will probs renew /replace parts as and when they become available.Hope your rebuild goes ok,and you get on the road soon.

they may look a tad sad fellows but they can be fixed in the shed
and work as a nice back up for the other wheels when they break
and keeps us older fellows out of the pub and sober we hope

i have been working on bike wiring for over 50 years
and the new stuff is nightmare to work on ...
also if it looks a bit sad .....it may not get nicked and trashed
as fast as a shinny new one

hi John,
I'm in a similar position to you in that I have a TS250/1 that has been "dormant" for I don't know how long, got it last year from a local bike shop....they got it as part of a job lot of bikes for spares. It's got a disc front end and 12V electrics (dunno if this is original?!) if the odo is to be believed has only done about 5,000 miles.......the down side is that it ain't registered and (for whatever reason) its engine number has been erased  and as I haven't any paperwork I reckon re-registering it may be "challenging"!
It's a barn find (complete with bits of bailer twine) but is not really in bad nick; I'm thinking more in terms of a ratty army green paintjob etc, and maybe even a sidecar! Good luck with yours, be interested to compare notes.
I won't be doing much to mine until I have somewhere to work on it (and money  ); it's stored in my ex's garage for the moment.
I also run a 1991 (but on a K-plate) ETZ 251 and that is very much alive.......just got new fork seals and front tyre.
Being in the South East (Sussex) I get my stuff from Burwins, they certainly have bits for ETZs and Kanunis but I haven't tried getting ant TS bits yet.
Best of luck with yours, hope to get started on mine some time this year!
Simon
