New problem/dilemma ...

Postby Nozz » Sun Jul 25, 2010 1:26 pm

I just finally got to attempt to get the bike back together from the sprag clutch spring fix. Seemed to all be in order, but when I crank it over, I have a lot of noise that seems to be coming from the top end. Kind of grinding sound that is present when I let go of the comp release lever. Cam pulley seems to have about a half turn of play from TDC, 1/4 ~ each direction. It seemed like less play beforehand. Any ideas? Thanks!

Can't really help but it doesn't sound good! Obviously you gotta figure its probably something you were working on...
Are you talking about the pulley for the cam belt?
good luck

I'm sure your belt pullys are lined up on TDC w. a straightedge and cam timing is correct? Right? :-D Valve adjustment right?

Oh, and what cam do you have in there?

Thanks guys. It's all lined up and i didn't get into the valve clearance settings, so they are (should be) where they were. Sounds like i need to get somebody to take a look. I really thought i'd be riding once i got the clutch cover back on . :(

Just occurred to me that i think the spacer behind the cam pulley ended up on the outside of the pulley. Don't have the diagram and it's been a month, so i think it belongs behind the pulley. Don't know what i was thinking!
