greetings all , my name is bill and i am from ambler pa in the philadelphia suburbs. i have ridden primarily british bikes since the late sixties. I bought the skorpion alan honda had listed in the classified section or this forum and i have a few questions.
1.the manual i got with the bike says that the forks take 300 ml of 10 weight oil at a height of 210mm but the philadelphia riders wiki and a search of this site says 350 ml of 20 weight oil at a height of 150 or 160mm . i am inclined to go with the information here but i just want to check.
2. can the header /exhaust pipe be removed without removing the radiator?
3. oil: the manual says 20-40, the sticker on the bike says 15-50. any reason not to use 20=50 motorcycle oil?
4. any suppliers of a 43 tooth rear sprocket in the us

i have only done a short 15 mile test run but i really like this bike.

thanks in advance for any help.

The Skorpion was originally designed in the UK - it was even part of a TV programme on design at the time!

I usually referred to it as:
Designed in Britain
Italian bits
Japanese engine
Put together by Germans.

So think of it as something Velocette might have been making, if they had lasted long enough!

Hi Bill,
I'm one of the "other" Bills on this site. You'll love your Skorpion, great bikes. Comments in BLUE

I changed out the seals on my Tour last year. Went with the manual recommendations, but used 15w oil and didn't have any issues.
2. can the header /exhaust pipe be removed without removing the radiator?
Negative, Ghost Rider...You don't have to remove the radiator, just unbolt and it'll move forward enough to clear. (that may be what you meant...)
3. oil: the manual says 20-40, the sticker on the bike says 15-50. any reason not to use 20=50 motorcycle oil?
20-50w is good to go, that's what I'm currently running.
4. any suppliers of a 43 tooth rear sprocket in the us
David chimed in here...

thanks to all who replied.
the head pipe was leaking and i went to the local yamaha dealer and got new gaskets and replaced them without a problem. i took the bike in for pa state inspection and it passed without issue. i done a few more short rides to get used to the bike and i am liking it. the riding position is spot on for me. i added a xt500 shift lever to have the grand prix shift pattern like the norton but on the left. it has been a while since i had a left shift machine. i have to keep telling my self: left side shift. still, i occasionally "shift" with the brake.
thanks again for all the help.
