VS KLX150

Postby Hireky » Mon Feb 14, 2011 5:18 am

Dear All

Good Day.

Recently, I was chased by KLX150.
At the moment, I was waiting the front moto to give a space to me.
Once the moto gave a space to me, I passed him and gave a space to KLX150,
because the road was narrow.

The KLX150 passed me immediately, but, , , is KLX150 not so fast?
I thought it could be fast, because he was chasing me very aggressively.
But, it was not difficult to follow him.

At the next signal, we stopped together.
And then once it turned to blue, KLX150 dashed rapidly.
After that, I started and tried to catch up with him.
In the case, it was not easy, but it was possible to catch up.

Next signal stopped us again.
I checked his moto and found "Yoshimura" Sticker.
I don't know the normal sound of KLX150, so I couldn't recognize the muffler was changed or not.

Basically, KLX150 is for rough road, so the comparison may be silly.
But it's capacity is 150cc, so that it could be faster than 125cc,
or maybe he was not facing me very much.

Anyhow, anybody has tried to compare KLX150 and MZ125SM before?

Thanks

you will find that a good running mz 125
is a fast bike but bigger bikes will go faster if set up proper

Thanks Dave!

Before, at an after parts shop,
A staff said "MZ125 had been popular, but now it was anymore and KLX150 was the trend".

Yes, I bought my MZ in 2007, MZ Malaysia stopped business in 2008 and changed management.
I also regreted a little of purchasing the unit and thought I should have waited the launch of KLX150, , .

But, according to the internet, top speed of normal KLX150 is not so high.
It looked that around 110km was the maximum for the KLX150.
And for me, KLX150 body is a little small.

Recently, my MZ condition is getting good and I thought the model has a good potential.
So, I will keep improving and riding my MZ.
My concern is just an endurance of MZ125SM.

Thanks

Dear Dave

Mine has just passed 13,000km and it is in good condition now.
I would like to ride my MZ for longer more.
For clutch plates, it could be done by my self.
I hope that new MZ company (management) can keep providing spare parts to us in future also.

Today, I was passed by CBR150 which was changed the muffler.
I have experienced before that I couldn't follow CBR150.
However, my MZ has got better than the moment. . .
But, I didn't try to follow the CBR150 because it was just after rain,
so that the road was still wet and danger.
Safety is the best, even though somebody invites to competition.

I have been California and Indiana only.
But when in Indy, it was in Feb and so cold.
Osaka in Japan also has very cold, even though it would be a little less cold than your place.
So, I can know your feeling to wait for the motorcycle season!

Thanks

if one wants to modify the 125cc motor
i have found every thing i tried
made it go slower and use more gas
from new it seems the factory had it tuned best
so i just ride mine as it was made by the factory
and when i need to go fast
i take the 660 traveller
dave

on a long trip the rt125 will get you there
but it takes longer
but the 660 is a ruff ride and makes you tired

Dear Dave

Yes, I do agree your opinion.
In Japan, I was riding 250cc which had enough speed,
so that I didn't have any emotion to make it more faster.

I tried to purchase 250cc here in Malaysia, but it was quite expensive, even though it was a second hand.
So, I decided purchasing 125cc.
However, it was lucky for me, because I could study the basic of a motorcycle.

Here, 125cc can go into highway, but it was not comfortable for my stock MZ125.
I tried to add more 10km/h and now it has almost done.

This is my personal opinion. I don't like changing a muffler because of the loudness.
I mainly tuned intake air and gas.
This is why I thought MZ125SM has a good potential.
Even though no bour up or no changing muffler, it got more speed.

I will maintain mine well, because sometimes tuning makes the life shorter.

Thanks,
