Raced Again

Postby rd400racer » Thu Apr 21, 2011 3:08 pm

Well, my son and I were at Nashville again this past weekend, him on the MZ and me on the FZR400. Here is a pic of us during practice when he came in a bit too hot and the old man went around him.

He learned pretty quick though and within a couple of laps he was the one making the pass...

I was keeping an eye out for ya Bill.

Saturday was pretty nasty. Nothing like going out for your first race of the season on a wet track, and for me a new bike.

As you know Sunday was beautiful. My son had a great 9 lap battle with a guy on an SV. The MZ would overtake in the infield section and
then the SV would blow by him on the banking. On the last lap my son had a decent lead coming into the banking but the SV rider just edged him out at the finish line. But everybody was talking about how great the MZ handled the twisties. My son is now begging for more horsepower!

Unfortunetly I didn't get to see the battle. I was ahead of both of them on the FZR

I feel your pain...my first ride on the Dragon was in the rain with wet leaves on the road...
I kept checking the schedule for the April dates and then something came up.
I plan to be back out at the September run, hopefully.

You have created a monster, you know...
Glad he's having a good time with you.

Racing my critter this year with my new club at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway in Southern California. Singles classes have been thin so far, but when you spend most of the day in the office trying to run the club, you treasure every moment you have on the track ...

Hey morbidelli, I read the article about you in RRW. You are my son's new hero! Excellent article and it gave us some good tips on what to do to get more competitive with his machine. Good luck to you this season and we will be keeping an eye on you.

Thanks for the kind words! I think the article's in the April 2011 issue of RRW. I think the lesson here is get it running well, and leave it the hell alone! :-D

Been working on my new race club all winter. I'm Director of Operations at CVMA. The owner of Willow decided he was paying too much for ALS ambulance services and decided to replace two ALS ambulances with one EMT. I decided to start my own race org with some friends. This is what we've come up with:

www.cvmaracing.com .

So far, so good. Only problem is that there's really not a lot of time or mental energy left to actually race. Glad I've got the MZ to just go out and play around on. And you know what? At the end of the straight, the thing's not slow ...

Take care - M

Probably. Next time I'm at Mickey's, I'll check.

I wouldn't mind some cloud cover. Last race weekend was in the high 90s. People just bailed out - and I don't really blame them.
