2001 Skorpion Traveller choke issue

2001 Skorpion Traveller choke issue

Hello to all. My Traveller has 48+K miles on it with next to nothing in terms of maintenance issues however my choke has all of a sudden become stuck & won't move at all. I removed the cable at the bar to lube & check movement which it will very little. The cable is clean with no visible rust and is fairly sealed from the elements.
As I've never had to fool with it I'm not too sure how to attack the problem. How easy Is it to remove @ the carb end. My reason for asking is I use it every day & if its a big job I'd like to that up front. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Mike

if things go as normal start on Friday afternoon and hope you don't need it till Tue. morning
my traveller is hard to get the tank off and on
do take the tank off out side away from things
so if fuel is spilled its not in the shop or the basement
do disconnect the battery so no sparks

i will be doing this soon as mine is being a big GAS HOG

Like David said, it's not a "quick" job due to all the stuff you've got to move.
I'm a daily rider and know what you mean. It took me about half a day, easy pace, not hurrying.
The choke on my Tour was acting up, didn't like to release, no matter what until the engine got warmed up (and that took a bit on cold days.)
Once you get the tank off, you really don't have to pull the carbs to clean the choke. There's a nut that screws out and the choke slider will come out with that. Clean everything up and make sure the O-ring is in good shape.

Since you've already gone that far, might as well take the carbs out and give 'em a good clean (save a redo down the road).
Be mindful of the float retention pin and the posts, the posts can be broken off...some of us found that out the hard way... :oops:
(this was with the then recently acquired Traveller. I got in a hurry and put too much pressure on a post when reinstalling the float...)

Thanks for the tips/pic's. Its been so long I forgot I had the engine book for it & have been looking it over(& over & over)
Got a question, If I remove the side faring panel I have fairly good assess to the choke plunger assy. If I freed up the cable at the handle bar could I unscrew the plunger assy & simply slide it out??
Thanks again for your help. I'm not opposed to following your procedure but having the faring off I thought I might be able to get at it.

Thanks again for your help. I'm not opposed to following your procedure but having the faring off I thought I might be able to get at it.

You should be able to. On the Tour, I was able to "monkey" a wrench in there and get it out.
You don't have to free up the cable. The fitting will pop out a bit due to the spring. The slider is held tight on the cable end by the spring.
If you want to undo the spring, it's best to loosen the cable (yeah, i did it the "hard" way...pull the spring back, clamp on a hemostat, doh!!, do it again...).
