New 500 Silver star owner

Postby gilerawarren-3 » Sat Sep 03, 2011 4:58 pm

Well I won the e-bay auction for the 500. I'll be bringing it home Tues. hopefully riding it home. First project, I guess will be to fix the starter Sprague. I'd be interested is any afermarket parts anyone wants to sell. I'd Like to get a Ron Woods exhaust to start. Has anyone upgraded their forks for better handling. Do the stock forks have cartridges or a regular damping pack? What size and make are the front forks? Now the wife thinks I need to get rid of one of my other bikes...We'll see...Maybe

i do not see any thing on the list that needs to go....
and have fun with the 500 just be careful the turn radius is short due to the fork stops
it will bite you in a real slow sharp corner

Congratulations and welcome aboard! It's a great bike. I know Wood doesn't stock the pipes anymore and those that I've seen are pricey (around $400). Your best bet is probably the flat track sites for that. I dunno about upgrading the forks, the stockers seem to handle everyday scratching pretty well. Have fun!

Congrats on winning the Silvy. Looked like a good bike. I just sold a Woods muffler for around $200 because I couldn't stand the noise. Those things are LOUD! Check your stock Sebring muffler and see if it has A2 stamped on it. The Silvys came with either an A, A1, or A2 muffler and the A2 is the more desirable factory "performance" muffler. I prefer it to the straight through cans and performance is comparable. I have accumulated quite a few parts so let me know what you need and I may part with it. :-D

And horosho, can you post some pics of your Gespann?

Will do, once it clears up here and I get an hour or two in the shed to finish my sprag clutch fix and get it put back together!
